NZDA launched the Well Aware Together Framework in 2023. This webinar series is part of the ongoing support for our members, providing information, tools and advice to support their own wellbeing and that of their colleagues. The series will cover the topics: mental, social, physical and financial wellbeing, which are the key domains of dentist wellbeing.

Webinar 3: Supporting Family and Close Friends Impacted by the Alcohol and Other Drug Use of Loved Ones In this webinar, Dr Pauline Stewart will share information supporting family and close friends impacted by the alcohol and other drug use of loved ones. She will discuss how Family Drug Support NZ ensures that the delivery of services via Telehealth meets the needs of the 10 to 12 people impacted by just one person’s alcohol or other drug use, and what assists families to build coping and resilience for a journey they did not choose to be on. Key discussion points: • What’s healthy vs what’s not in relation to the latest evidence-based research • Stages of seeking help • What recovery looks like and what is needed to support recovery • The impact of AOD use on others • Coping with the alcohol and other drug use of family/whanau • Where to seek help for oneself and those who are impacted by someone’s alcohol and/or other drug use • Services offered by Family Drug Support Aotearoa New Zealand

Dr Pauline Stewart B.Ed.,M.Ed, PhD and M.Ed (Counselling) Executive Officer/Founder: Family Drug Support Aotearoa New Zealand.

Pauline is a Registered Psychologist, with dual Counselling Psychology and Educational Psychology scopes of practice. She has membership of New Zealand Psychological Society and the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. Pauline was awarded a KiwiBank New Zealand Local Hero Regional Award in 2023. Six years ago Pauline founded Family Drug Support Aotearoa New Zealand (FDS). Pauline also acts as an expert independent voice for policy change on substance use issues. She has recently presented papers in Australia, and also 3 papers in Rotterdam, The Netherlands to 100 delegates from 25 countries
