This advanced 3-days workshop encompasses both theory and hands-on training focusing on various facets of clinical endodontics at the fundamental and advanced levels. This contemporary course will focus on the fundamental concepts of endodontics: using problem-based learning techniques and case reports to cover diagnosis, cracks management, pain control in endodontics (hot pulp), access cavity, modern shaping and disinfection process and advances in obturation of the root canal system.

Learning outcomes

Access cavity preparation, locating orifices, negotiating and shaping simple to complex curved as well as calcified root canals Use of various rotary NiTi systems and reciprocating endodontic motors in shaping challenging root canal systems Practical use of bioceramic materials like MTA cement in obturation of wide canals and perforation repairs Leaning principles of re-treatment, post removal, GP filling removal and canal negotiation.

Dr Artika Soma Dentist

Dr. Artika Soma obtained her B.D.Sc. from the University of Otago, NZ in 2004 and a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) specialising in Endodontics from the University of Otago, NZ in 2009. Since graduation, Artika worked at the Dental Hospital and multi-specialist practice. She was involved in teaching in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Otago, NZ and the La Trobe University in Bendigo. Artika is a Member of the ASE and ANZAE. Currently, Artika is a Principal Endodontist in a specialist endodontic practice in Camberwell, Victoria.

Dr Shalin Desai Endodontist

Dr Shalin Desai graduated with Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Endodontics) from the University of Otago in 2009. Prior to specialisation, Shalin spent considerable time practicing general dentistry in the public and private sectors in Sydney. Since returning to Sydney, he has been in his own specialist practices in Norwest and Hornsby, as well as working part time as clinical educator for final year dental students at Westmead dental hospital.

Dr Luke Moloney Endodontist

Dr. Luke Moloney obtained his B.D.Sc. from the University of Melbourne in 1983 and his M.D.Sc. in Endodontics from the University of Melbourne in 1990. He is the Consultant Endodontist in the Dentistry Department at the Royal Children’s Hospital and an Honorary Senior Fellow at the Melbourne Dental School. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Dr Humza Ahmed B Oral H, Grad. Dip. Dent.(Griffith), DClinDent(Otago), MRACDS(Endo)

Dr Humza Ahmed is a registered specialist endodontist. He completed his dental qualifications at Griffith University in Queensland, receiving numerous academic excellence awards. Humza received a Doctoral Scholarship for his specialist training in endodontics completed at the University of Otago, New Zealand.
