NZRC CORE Immediate

CORE Immediate is designed for Dentists who are not administering any form of sedation. This course is for Dentists who are expected to manage and supervise resuscitation events. Certification requires the learner to demonstrate a given standard of simulated practical skills, facilitated by self-directed learning prior to the course and face-to-face training. Skills stations include Adult /Child and Infant CPR, use of an AED, Airway Management and Medical Emergency scenarios.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing the CORE Immediate course, participants will feel confident and competent in handling medical emergencies within their clinical area. The course covers: • Understanding the importance of teamwork and communication. • Performing CPR on adults and using an AED. • Performing CPR on children and infants, including managing a choking patient. • Recognizing signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, and correctly drawing up and administering adrenaline confidently. • Safely managing airways, including the use of oxygen therapy. • Knowledge and ability to handle various medical emergencies, such as seizures, strokes, chest pain, asthma, and maternal collapse. • Discussing systems and emergency processes within their clinical areas.
