Dr Shraddha Patel BDS, DClinDent(Endo), FRACDS(Gen), MRACDS(Endo)

Shraddha graduated with a BDS degree from the University of Otago in 2007. She spent a year as a dental house surgeon at Greenlane, Auckland and Middlemore hospital and worked in both private and public practice in Auckland, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Adelaide. After working as a general dentist for over a decade, she then returned to Dunedin and completed her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Endodontics) in 2023 with the aid of a Doctoral Scholarship. Her doctoral research explored whether patients with Type II diabetes experience alterations in blood vessel formation in teeth, ultimately affecting their healing potential. She is a recipient of the ANZAE Sir John M Booth Award in 2023. And holds a Fellowship in General dentistry (FRACDS) and a Membership in Endodontics (MRACDS) with the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr Lucy Sullivan BDS, DClinDent(Endo), MRACDS

Lucy is a Dunedin native with a passion for endodontics and the challenges that it often involves. She graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Distinction) in 2012, after which she worked as a Maxillofacial and Dental House Officer at Waikato Hospital where she gained invaluable surgical skills, experience with dental and medical emergencies, and treating medically compromised patients. Lucy then practiced at an accident and emergency clinic in Auckland before returning home to Dunedin to undertake her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry degree in Endodontics and also received her MRACDS with the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons. Lucy is an exceptionally bright and talented dentist with a work ethic that matches her passion. As a result, she received both the Leask Memorial Medal Award for the graduating dental student with the best performance in restorative dentistry and was added to the Dean’s list for exceptional academic performance in 2012.

Professor Nick Chandler BDS(Lond) MSc(Manc) PhD(Lond) LDSRCS(Eng) FDSRCPS(Glas) FDSRCS(Edin) FFDRCSI

Nick is a Professor of Endodontics at the University of Otago Born in New Zealand, he graduated from Guys’ Hospital. Following general practice in London he held a hospital post and the position of Lecturer at Manchester Dental School for 7 years. He moved to New Zealand, taking up a lectureship, in 1987. He completed a PhD from London in 2005 as an external student. In 2016, he was awarded the Alan Docking International Association for Dental Research Science Award by the Australian and New Zealand Division for his outstanding scientific achievements in the field of dental research.
