With so many aspects of clinical dentistry continuously evolving further year after year, the exhilarating updates at the DU2024 event offer practitioners great insight into clinical techniques, concepts and approaches in an in-depth manner across the two days. The masterclasses in restorative dentistry at Dental Update 2024 will be presented by Dr Anthony Mak and Professor Ian Meyers. Over four sessions, a full spectrum of restorative and aesthetic dentistry will be covered. Highlights include advances in digital dentistry, the management of patients with dental erosion and dental care for the aged will also be presented. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr Barbara Woodhouse, will detail pitfalls of oral surgery and strategies to avoid them. Consideration will be given to patient assessment, instrument selection and managing infections as well as minimising risks of OAF with extraction of maxillary molar teeth as well as closing an OAF if the tuberosity fractures Infection Control practices, guidelines and regulations continue to evolve. Professor Laurie Walsh will present the Infection Control Mini-Update 2024 with relevant information for all the dental team. In a second session, Professor Laurie Walsh will detail various new and emerging dental technologies that are likely to impact on day to day dental practice in the upcoming years. On demand analgesia and pain blockade using light-based therapies, the potential role of nanoparticles in a range of modalities from remineralization through to on demand gene therapy and other topics, such as colour correction and tooth shade reversal agents will be considered. The digital imaging revolution is in full swing, but are you getting optimal image quality out of your system? Specialist in Dento-Maxillofacial radiology, Dr Alison Butt, will provide details on how to optimize image quality and implement a simple quality control program for your practice as well as on the key steps you can take to diagnose and resolve image quality problems. Dental Update 2024 will not have any sponsors to allow all presenters the unopposed opportunity to present their views, preference and clinical management approaches without external bias. This is an underlying philosophy that has continued across from the very first Queensland Dental Group event over a decade ago for each and every event and now the 56th event, Dental Update 2024. Registration is now open for the Dental Update 2024 event, 27-28 Sept Brisbane.
