In this micro group session we will be discussing: 1.Source Licence Responsibility, 2.Who are authorised users of radiographic equipment, 3.Health and safety compliance, 4.Radiation safety practices, 5.Continuous training and audits.
Source Licence Responsibility Authorised Users: Dentists registered with the Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ) and holding a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) are authorised to take radiographs without needing a separate license under the legislation. 1. Health and Safety Compliance: - Adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, ensuring the safety of all patients and team members within the practice. 2. Guideline Adherence: - Follow the guidelines outlined in the: - Code of Practice for Dental Radiology (ORS C4) - Compliance Guide for Dental Radiography including CBCT (ORS G4) 3. Radiation Safety Practices: - Be familiar with and apply the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle in all radiographic procedures. 4. Continuous Training and Audits: - Participate in ongoing training within your practice. - Assist in conducting radiation safety audits to ensure compliance and safety.
