Non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT), along with motivation and correct home care techniques, is the mainstay to periodontal treatment. Managing clinically healthy patients, patient`s implants, as well as patient`s who present with periodontal conditions in practice has evolved over the last several decades, moving towards more Minimally Invasive Non-Surgical Therapies (MINST) . This hands-on clinical training workshop is a masterclass. The session will provide a revision of the current GBT protocol, based on individual patient diagnosis and risk assessment to achieve optimal results, and provide guidance and demonstrations on the state-of-the-art technologies the AIRFLOW®, PERIOFLOW®, and PIEZON®. This workshop also offers information and tips on device care and maintenance. This half day workshop is suitable for the dental team including the dentist with an interest in periodontology and in the technology, the dental hygienist, and the oral health therapists.

Learning outcomes

Objectives Identify the difference in periodontal diseases and peri-implant diseases to master disease diagnosis. Gain expertise in assessing and monitoring implants, understanding the protocol for recognising signs of a failing implant. Discover best practices for caring for natural teeth and implants to enhance longevity and minimize the risk of periodontitis and peri-implantitis. Revise the 2017 Periodontal Classification. Hone your skills with hands-on experience in accurate probing techniques and the utilisation of AIRFLOW®, PERIOFLOW®, and PIEZON® technologies on simulation models or on natural teeth. Sharon Boutell

Sharon is a registered dental hygienist currently working in a periodontal and specialist implant practice. She studied in London and graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry as a dental Hygienist and Therapist achieving awards for clinical skills and patient care. Her proven clinical and lecturing experience in dentistry spans more than 25 years, she has been involved in education, research, and teaching on undergraduate BHSc Oral Health programmes for Dental Hygienists, Oral Health Therapists and Dental Care Professionals in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She has lectured nationally to her peers focusing on advanced periodontal instrumentation, ultrasonic technology, and sharpening her research interest includes how oral probiotics influence the oral microbiome in radiation therapy induced oral mucositis. She is an ambassador for EMS and loves everything about Guided Biofilm Therapy and honestly believes this technology is a complete game changer for all dental professionals managing their patient’s oral health needs in clinical practice. On a personal note, Sharon loves great food and is immensely proud of nearly becoming very proficient with her drone used for another love of hers - fishing.
